I love Sonny now. kthxbai.
“Ms. Reynolds,” the male teacher called out, a paper separated from a stack in his hand. “Oh man, I wonder what kinda F I got this time. Emily knew she was failing the class terribly, but it was her own fault. She just never applied herself. After all, it was math. Who likes math? Reaching the desk, the girl looked at the paper eagerly. Her face held a look of excitement. “It’s a good F! Yes!” A few sets of eyes wandered to her paper, seeing the big red ‘59’ at the top. Some kids laugh, but most just ignored it. It was a regular thing. As a few more papers were passed out, a boy walked in the room. Emily called out, “Why, hello there, young lad!” Most of the class stopped talking because they were curious as to who she was talking to. “Hello madam,” he called back, grinning. “You must be new. I haven’t seen you ‘round these parts.” “Yes, just in today.” This too gathered some giggles. “May I help you, sir?” the teacher interjected. He was not amused, that was for sure. “Uhm, I’m new.” The paper the boy held went into the older male’s hand. “Mr. Moore, take the empty desk.” That just happened to be next to Emily. It may not have seemed so, but she was a pretty shy girl when it came to talking to people. Especially cute boys. In a group, she was perfectly fine. One on one, like this, she wasn’t. She most definitely wouldn’t be so loud, and a few awkward silences would creep in. Mr. Moore, as she knew him so far, smiled as he made his was to the desk next to hers. And he sat down. This would prove to be interesting. “Hey.” A simple greeting, yet Emily was unsure of how to respond. “Hey. My name’s Emily.” Well, that part was over with. Now the rest of the conversation. “My name’s Sonny.” The girl just didn’t quite get the smile on his lips. It was almost as if something pleased him, or if something made him happy. What though? She had no idea. But there wasn’t any time to think about that, because Mr. Wallman was starting a new lesson.
