She loves me, she loves me not! My love was my decay! “Hello?” I answered, already knowing who it was. “Hey. I’m just about at your house.” “Okay, see you soon.” “See ya.” I hung up the phone and my sister just looked at me. “Okay, you can’t just sit there in silence on your way there. You have to talk to him.” “Who said I wouldn’t talk?” Gia sighed, and then answered me. “You never talk, even if you know the person. Anyway, the next tip. Act a little flirty. I know you can, I’ve seen you do it.” I was unsure about it. He most likely doesn’t like me. “I dunno. I don’t even think he likes me.” “Trust me, he likes you. I’ve seen the way he looks at you. It’s like you’re the only person in the room.” He really looks at me like that? Wow. “If he looks at me like that then why is he with Shanna?” “Who knows? Anyway, he should be here soon, so do what I said. Okay?” “I don’t know why you’re doing this for me, but thanks.” I smiled genuinely at her. “You’re my twin. I should help you out if I can.” She got up and left, and I heard the doorbell ring. Grabbing my backpack, I walked downstairs and opened the front door. “Hey,” I greeted him, smiling. “You ready?” he asked, returning my smile with one of his own. “Yep.” “Okay, let’s get outta here,” Frank said, heading for his car. I closed the front door behind me and walked to his car, getting into the passenger side. He started is, and Fer Sure by The Medic Droid played through the speakers. “Ah, I love TMD,” I stated, following my sister’s pointers and talking. “Yeah, they’re awesome.” The car grew silent besides the music playing, and I knew I had to keep the conversation going. “I wonder what’s up with Shanna.” Nice, bring up his fucking girlfriend. Real smart, I yelled at myself in my head. “I don’t know, but, honestly, I’ve been thinking about breaking up with her since we got into that fight.” No freaking way. This is great! “Really? Why?” “Well, she can be such a bitch. And, I like someone else too.” My heart skipped a beat. Could he really like me? “Oooh, tell me who.” “I don’t know…” As we pulled into the school’s parking lot, I looked out the window quickly. “Oh my God, is that Shanna?!” He pulled into the parking spot and looked over to a group of preps. “It is! What the hell is she doing!?” Frank seemed upset now. He got out and walked over to her, and I quickly followed. “Shanna, what are you doing?” he questioned, looking at her new apparel. She was dressed like the rest of the group. “What? I found people who are better than you guys. They are suicidal losers who mope around all the time.” That really upset me. I felt tears well up in my eyes, and a few rolled down my cheeks. “I can’t believe you. You’re such a fucking whore,” I told her, running off, still crying. “You know what Shanna? It’s over. I can’t believe you’d do that to your supposed best friend.” I heard him say that, then start off after me. He caught up to me after I was sitting by a pillar, knees pulled to my chest and tears streaming down my cheeks. I felt a bit pathetic crying in front of everyone like that. I heard him stoop down to my level, his breathing a bit uneven from the slight running. “You okay, Ashlynn?” he asked, putting one arm around my shoulders then sitting next to me. “I don’t know. I mean, how could she do that to me?” “I don’t know, but I broke up with her. She doesn’t even look bothered by it.” I had been so engrossed in crying that I hadn’t realized his arm was around me. Butterflies flew around in my stomach, but I was still crying. And, wait, he broke up with her? This is probably the best and worst day ever. “Ughh, why did she have to do this?” I asked no one in particular.
